Letter: Kathy Lohmer is an independent thinker

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
Maybe Lee Salisbury couldn’t help smiling while reading Gregory Lohmer’s letter to the editor a few weeks back, but the type of hateful smear campaign he is leading in the letter dated Aug 20, 2008, is no laughing matter.

Letter: School Districts’ vision needs to be far-sighted

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
I haven’t written in awhile and just the other day a client asked what I was going to write about next. I said there are so many issues but nothing that warranted my time and effort.

Letter: The truth about candidate Lohmer for 56A

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
Can people in Congress “choose” people to run for State Representative? The truth of the matter is, no! Allow me, a close friend of Kathy Lohmer’s, to set the record straight. Kathy Lohmer was not asked by anyone, including Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, to run for state representative.

Letter: Bunn listens to issues about education

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
Our state representative, Julie Bunn, stopped at my neighborhood park on Thursday, Aug. 7, as part of a district tour. We talked, she listened, and I learned about recent education funding developments at the state Legislature, including her work on the recent commitment to fully fund special education.

Letter: Rep. Matt Dean supports veterans

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
I was appalled and disappointed to read the recent Letter to the editor by Capt. (ret.) David Francis criticizing Rep. Matt Dean’s support of military personnel and veterans.

Letter: Here’s reminder to vote Sept. 9, and vote for Bunn

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
I want to remind readers to vote for Rep. Julie Bunn Sept. 9 in the DFL primary election.

Letter: Cook would be effective for Ward 2

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
Micky Cook would be an effective City Councilperson for Ward 2. She has a background in management that includes budget oversight and collaboration between government entities. Micky is an Assistant Hennepin County Attorney.

Opinion: Less illumination on a few topics that cross my mind

09/03/2008 12:00 AM
My “columns” file needs housecleaning. I’ve accumulated a boatload of bits and pieces, none long enough to stand alone, but worth a passing thought on a rainy day when Netflex lets you down. So, without further ado and not a transition in sight, consider:

Opinion: Solving big problems on Long Lake has no easy answers

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
It’s no secret to people living in and around Stillwater that there are problems with Long Lake.

Opinion: A new chapter for Stillwater Area Public Schools

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
Growing up, my world centered on the houses and families located very nearby my home. We lived on the same block. We played together. Our parents watched over all of us, guiding and even scolding us on occasion, to ensure our safety and well-being.

Letter: Summer Tuesdays celebrates 2008 season, thanks sponsors

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
The Sixth Annual Summer Tuesdays concluded Tuesday, Aug. 19.

Letter: Bunn is a champion for Minnesota business

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
As co-owner of a small, fast growing hi-tech Minnesota company, I’ve admired State Rep. Julie Bunn’s legislative accomplishments as a champion of Minnesota business.

Letter: Council is not letting constituents be heard on major issues

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
Another example of the current city leadership’s arrogant behavior was displayed for all to see at the Aug. 19 Lake Elmo City Council meeting.

Letter: Dean showing leadership with health care forum

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
I would like to thank area residents who came to a healthcare forum I recently hosted with Rep Matt Dean at the Stillwater High School.

Opinion: There’s more to discussion about transit tax

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
A recent letter titled “Transit is a major part of metro area growth” by my opponent in the Washington County Commissioner District 1 race, doesn’t give the whole story on the transportation sales tax increase.

Letter: Thanks to all who helped with Veterans Memorial cruise fundraiser

08/27/2008 12:00 AM
Monday, Aug. 18, was a fantastic evening to be on the St. Croix River for the Stillwater Veterans Memorial seventh annual benefit dinner cruise. The Stillwater Veterans Memorial Committee wishes to thank those who donated so generously to the event.
